Happy New Year
Well it's 2016 and like I do every year I say that this year is going to be my year to start finding success and to finally get published. Only this year I have reason to believe that's true even if it's not how I usually mean it. For starters I know for a fact that I will be having a short story published in Russia. It's being translated right now in fact. So that's exciting even if when I get a copy of it I won't be able to read it because I don't read Russian. Still I think it's a neat accomplishment and I'm very proud of it.
Secondly I'm almost done with a new mystery novel. It's always exciting to be writing a book, even a short story, what makes this one more exciting is that I know an editor that may very well be interested in it once I have it polished. She was interested in my first book but that one didn't have enough mystery elements. This one is a paranormal mystery so hopefully she'll want it... or at least have an idea of who might if she doesn't. I've really enjoyed writing this one because I use to be a paranormal investigator so I got to use some of my knowledge from that experience, and weave in stories from real investigation and other local ghost stories as I decided to set this book in Kansas where I reside. The other exciting part is that this book came to me fully formed so that writing process has been more like transcribing than writing. It's like I just picked it up as a complete book. If you can't tell I'm super excited about it.
Finally there is my first book Ragged Edge. Still trying to find an agent for it. I'm still waiting to hear from two that I sent it to after meeting them at a conference in New York. I had almost made up my mind to self publish that one this year, and I still might, but I think I'm going to give it one more going through to add a bit more polish to it, maybe polish up my query letter again and give it one more shot before going the self publish route. So we'll see what happens there.
All in all I know that I will finally have a book published under my name this year... it's just going to be in Russian, fair enough, as for English... well that might take me a little bit long but it's going to happen.
I hope you have a wonderful year and decide to stick with me as I finally start getting this writing career rolling. It's going to be a slow ride at first, you might want to get out and walk while I try to pick up speed, but then it's going to be full speed ahead and we'll swerve around the obstacles we can miss and barrel through the rest with our heads tucked between our shoulders.
